Memorial Day Doubleheader On Tap for BOSS

In the motorsports world, Memorial Day weekend has held special significance for well over a century. THE most famous race at Indianapolis, was always dubbed the “Decoration Day” Classic. Race tracks and sanctioning bodies around the nation have some of their biggest and most prestigious events on this holiday weekend. For the MPD Racing Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series, it will feature two nights of racing at the two key race tracks in the tour’s history.

Saturday night, the traditional sprint car gladiators will wheel their modern day chariots before the coliseum known as Fremont Speedway. Located on the historic Sandusky County Fairgrounds, auto racing on the site dates back into at least the 1930’s. The track became a staple of the BOSS tour in 2012 hosting the first event of the first full tour. Since then, Fremont has hosted two or more events every year.

On Sunday, the tour moves down to Waynesfield Raceway Park just outside Waynesfield, Ohio. Similar to Fremont, the tour and the track have a history dating back to 2012. Waynesfield was Ohio’s home track for traditional wingless sprint cars and BOSS was the Ohio touring series, working together every season. Now, with a part time race schedule under promoter Shane Helms, the tour is proud to help keep the traditional sprints a staple at Waynesfield.

Both events this weekend feature the new standard BOSS purse paying $2,000 to win and $300 to start. As always, our fine heat race sponsors will pay heat race money to the top 4 finishers in each heat. We want to thank TCB Speed, TheCushion.com, Hoosier Race Tire and MPD Racing for that extra cash. Also, seven bonus awards are up for grabs both nights courtesy of Hoosier Tire, All Star Performance, Accu-Force Shock Dynos, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Apple Metal Polishing, Cowen Truck Line and The Bridge Restaurant in Sidney.

For Fremont on Saturday, gates will open at 4 with racing set to begin at 7. Adult general admission is $18, seniors at $15 and students are $10. Kids 10 and under are free. Pit passes are $30. On Sunday at Waynesfield, pit gates will open at 3 pm with general admission gates open at 4. General admission tickets are $20 with seniors 62+ just $15, kids 11-15 just $10 and kids under 10 are free. Pit passes will be $35. Waynesfield offers a great deal on youth pit passes when accompanied by an adult, for kids 10 and under it is just $20.

For competing teams, mufflers are not required this weekend at either track. We will be using the yellow Westhold transponders. Remember, tires must be 4 corner Hoosiers with the right rear a choice of Medium, H15, H20, W18 or the Racesaver Spec tire. You do NOT need to run the same tire all night.
